Antiwar Voices

The mass media caters to what the people generally want to see, however, they also publish things that paint the government in a particular light. We generally do not hear these antiwar voices because the broader political landscape does not want us to. The government does not like to admit it when they are wrong, even less so when it has resulted in the deaths of hundreds or thousands of people. These antiwar voices are the ones who do their best to inform the public of the problems with our foreign policy as well as how the wars the United States gets itself into has negatively impacted us at home and abroad.

I think that we have to seek out these voices on our own because while mainstream media and the government cannot tell these voices to stop speaking, they do not have to draw attention to them either. They most likely think, correctly, that most Americans are too lazy and/or distrustful of any news source that is not CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc. This unwillingness to look for other sources and listen to the other side of an issue is what has led to the ignorance plaguing our society today.

The articles posted on The American Conservative and Antiwar.com focus on foreign policy and informing the public of the true intent and meaning of new legislation. This is meant to tell the people the facts as well as sway their opinions, like all media is. The difference here is that they are trying to inform of something as well as voice an opinion which is not one held by a majority. Not holding a majority makes getting your message out there infinitely harder as well as more likely to be ignored by those who are already set in their ways.
